What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented approach that helps individuals understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are interconnected. By identifying and challenging negative thought patterns, clients can develop healthier ways of thinking that lead to more positive emotions and behaviours. CBT is particularly effective in treating issues such as anxiety, depression, and stress by teaching practical strategies for coping with life's challenges.
The Role of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a specialized form of CBT that emphasizes the balance between acceptance and change. It is designed to help individuals manage intense emotions, reduce self-destructive behaviours, and improve relationships. DBT focuses on four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. This therapy is especially beneficial for individuals struggling with borderline personality disorder, eating disorders, and other complex mental health conditions.
